The Lost Ayckbourn Plays Of Sight Unseen |
|||
|
This website's first book, Sight Unseen,
is an official look at the Ayckbourn plays which got away. Be they
withdrawn, unproduced, unfinished or just concepts or unused titles. Within the book are entries for a number of completed plays which do not form part of the official Ayckbourn canon or the Ayckbourn 'grey plays'. The plays are all by Alan Ayckbourn but have only ever been acknowledged in the book Sight Unseen and are not available to view. This page offers a brief description of these plays, which are just some of the plays and concepts discussed in greater depth in the book Sight Unseen. |
Sight Unseen The Unseen Ayckbourn Plays
Sight Unseen is written by Alan Ayckbourn's Archivist Simon Murgatroyd and for the first time looks at the playwright's unproduced and unpublished plays, unwritten concepts and ideas, alternative versions of existing plays and other ephemera.
The book contains more than 75 separate entries about the early withdrawn plays, the Grey plays, the unproduced early plays, unproduced screenplays, screenplay treatments, unused concepts for plays, alternative and never used titles, alternate versions of existing plays and other ephemera.
There are exclusive extracts from many of the plays and the vast majority of entries are supported by comments by Alan Ayckbourn and an extensive bibliography. The majority of entries in Sight Unseen have not been discussed elsewhere and much of the material is exclusive to the book.
Sight Unseen is published by Lulu books both in softback and in ebook format. It can be ordered from Lulu here (the ebook version can be purchased here). Further details of the book can also be found on this website here.
